Services on 14-15 October, the Nineteenth Sunday after Pentecost -
15/10/2023Updated: On Saturday 14 October and Sunday 15 October we had services for the Nineteenth Sunday after Pentecost and in honour of Hieromartyr Cyprian and Martyr Justina of Nicomedia (+304 AD). All-night Vigil was served on Saturday evening and the Hours and Divine Liturgy were served on Sunday morning. These were our first services in nearly two months, and the first following the installation of our new iconostasis. During All-night Vigil the Six Psalms were read by Reader Timothy Nikitin of the Holy Dormition of the Mother of God Russian Orthodox Church in Dandenong, Victoria; Timothy was visiting New South Wales to participate in Australian Junior Ice Hockey League fixtures in Newcastle over the weekend. At Divine Liturgy the parish rector was assisted by Deacon Michal Matys and prayers were offered for peace in the Holy Land and peace in Ukraine. At the end of Divine Liturgy there was a moleben of thanksgiving for the completion of the renovations and in observance of the twentieth anniversary of the purchase of our parish centre. Afterwards, many of our parishioners and friends stayed behind for a festive meal.
